This month, we here at Thieves HQ needed an excuse to hang out, eat too much, and maybe get just a little bit silly. So we gave ourselves one: Christmas in July.
It just so happens that this month’s featured espresso is also White Horse Coffee’s Christmas Blend (in July) — their most awarded roast ever, and honestly, the perfect excuse for a festive little get-together. So we put on our winter best (because it's freezing here in Melbourne), poured some mulled wine, and gathered around the table.
Big thanks to our mates at The National Hotel in Richmond for hosting the magic — complete with an incredible full Christmas feast, mulled wine on arrival, an open fireplace, and exactly the right amount of over-ordering. It was cozy, it was chaotic, and it was very, very Thieves.

As the night unfolded, so did the conversations — half of which were, predictably, about coffee. Pour-over versus espresso. Tasting notes that got weirdly specific. The great oat vs. dairy debate. And at least three separate theories about who invented the flat white.
But in between the banter and the refills, there were belly laughs, good yarns, and the kind of mid-winter magic that doesn’t come around often. And sure, the food was incredible. The coffee? Even better. But the best part of the night? Hanging out with the people that make Thieves what it is.
Because at the end of the day, nothing says “let’s catch up” quite like “want a coffee?”
(Especially if there’s a cheeky shot of something extra in there.)
